La Esquina, feed me everyday!

Prior to my NYC trip I asked all my friends for recommendations and Mr. Hat said La Esquina was a must, so I went ahead and booked a table a month in advance! You enter via a diner/shop like place and the bar and restaurant is in the basement. We were ushered downstairs and left to... we genuinely didn't know what to do. One of the girls by the entrance said "they will find you" and we just thought "WHO will find us? How will THEY know it's us?". A round of free margaritas, hungry stomachs and an hour (!) later we finally got our table. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu. Our starter Queso Fundido (queso chihuahua, pumpkin seeds and chile de arbot) was my absolutely fave and the Elotes Callejeros (grilled corn, queso cotija, mayonnaise and chili) came second. We had steak, pork and lamb tacos which were all amazing and tostadas equally as good. It was a never ending mexican love fest for my belly. During the entire dinner they played the BEST music, including Aaliyah, and I couldn't have been happier. Unfortunately after about an hour and a half the waiter started to rush and after us having to wait an hour to get a table I booked a month in advance? hell to the no. The service was so incredibly inconsistent but oh my god I can't get over the food. I just can't.dsc06553-copydsc06540-copy dsc06541-copy dsc06544-copy dsc06545-copy dsc06546-copy dsc06547-copy dsc06549-copy dsc06550-copy
