Oslo (the restaurant, not Norway)

On Thursday I met up with my new friend Velma (never stop making new friends people!) at Oslo in Hackney to try out their new menu. As I used to live in Oslo I was quite keen to see if any of the dishes were Norwegian inspired and they were!
The restaurant has a very diverse menu with veg and non-veg items influenced by Norwegian dishes like Pølse (sausage), Nordic Poke and Grønn Salad (green salad) and we ordered our starter as soon as we arrived. Hungry much?

We decided to share a starter, have a main each and share dessert. Love it when people want to share their food, haha!
For starter we ordered the Avocado Tempura which was served with a sweet chilli sauce. Quite odd but actually really delicious. For main Velma had the flatiron steak and I had the fried chicken burger (New Orleans burger) which was delicious although a bit spicy for me - I was warned but chose to ignore the waitress..

At this point we were both absolutely stuffed and sweating as the restaurant didn't seem to have AC, but happily ordered dessert.

This must be a new dessert as I can't see it online, but oh boy. A thin waffle with nutella, caramel, cream and raspberries.. We somehow couldn't manage to finish it but it was absolutely delicious!

Oslo is a great foodie spot during the day and in the evening transforms into a buzzing bar and music venue.
The evening we were there they launched their new night called "Request Line" where you write down your favourite songs and the DJ will be playing the best ones requested. That could easily turn into a very random night!

Thanks Oslo for having us :)
